RetaLac®
RetaLac® is the first HPMC / lactose co-processing excipient. Can be used for sustained release preparations directly compressed or dry granulation. Although RetaLac® contains two materials, in physical structure, HPMC and lactose in RetaLac® form a single granular structure. This provides RetaLac® with excellent functionality, such as improved material flow and mixing. Moreover, thanks to its single-ball structure, RetaLac® has both plastic and brittle deformation characteristics, which improves compressibility in direct compression compared to traditional wet granulation and physical mixing.
The release of API is mainly controlled by diffusion through the hydrophilic framework, and the release effect is the most stable in the pH range of 1 to 7.4. Compared to HPMC alone or traditional wet granulation and simple mixing, RetaLac® significantly improves the wettability of hydrophilic gel materials. Therefore, the geometric parameters of the tablet (such as the radius of the tablet) can be used to predict the drug release, thereby minimizing the development time and cycle.
